The commissioners began the morning with the election canvass and going over provisional votes, write-ins, hand-counted ballots and totals for the official count.

Tony Martin came in and said there are a few employees off work due to being sick or injured (not COVID related).

Tony said there is a landowner who wants to put in a culvert and Tony feels it would be beneficial.  He did tell the commissioners Barber’s property which has been purchased by more than one (1) individual will be an issue of safety for traffic if they want to put in culverts as there are too many in such a short distance.  How to make entrances effective and give the landowner access to their property yet keep safety measures in place was discussed.  The commissioners talked about an access road being put in and talking to the city of Hugoton to see if they have any ideas about what to do with the entrances.

Tony asked the commissioners if two (2) of his new hires could receive a raise to get bumped up to where they should be.  Right now they are making between $16.88 and $16.91 per hour.  The commissioners agreed to move them both to $17.50 per hour.

The commissioners discussed the planning and zoning director position which will be available at the beginning of the year.  They have decided to put an ad in the paper to see if anyone would be interested in the position and have time for Vernon to train them before he retires.

Discussion about the lots by Pioneer Manor and how to get people interested in purchasing lots to build homes on.  The discussion was tabled for a later day.

Amy asked the commissioners about the Little KAC and if they want to stay involved or terminate.  The commissioners made a decision to terminate Stevens County’s membership.

Amy asked Joe if he spoke with anyone about the Moscow Senior Citizens roof.  He said he told Sevalin Brollier to find someone to do a temporary fix and get at least two (2) bids for the repairs on the roof.  Amy said Sevalin told her the roof had hail damage and asked if it should be turned in to insurance.  Pat said the roof is metal and insurance will not cover it unless there is a hole caused by hail.

By motion, the Board adjourned.

Attest: Amy Jo Tharp, County Clerk
