Stevens County Emergency Services
Function & Mission
Stevens County Emergency Services—comprised of Emergency Management, Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Service—works together with one unified purpose: to prepare, protect, and support our community before, during, and after emergencies and disasters.
Through preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery, we strive to reduce the harmful effects of all hazards impacting Stevens County.
Emergency Management
Stevens County Emergency Management leads countywide planning, training, and coordination for all emergency functions.
Our mission:
- Strengthen community resilience by developing comprehensive emergency plans, supporting interagency cooperation, and ensuring an organized, effective response to incidents affecting Stevens County.
Fire Department
Stevens County Fire Department is staffed by four officers and a dedicated team of volunteer firefighters who train twice each month.
We provide fire suppression and rescue services throughout Stevens County, including the cities of Hugoton and Moscow.
Our mission:
- Protect life and property
- Extinguish fires efficiently and safely
- Deliver specialized rescue capabilities in support of the Ambulance Service and other emergency partners
Emergency Medical Service
Stevens County Emergency Medical Service includes two officers, volunteer EMTs, and AEMTs who provide both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
We deliver high‑quality pre‑hospital emergency medical care and inter‑facility transfers for residents and travelers throughout Stevens County.
Our mission:
- Provide rapid, skilled, and compassionate medical response
- Ensure the highest standard of pre‑hospital patient care
